The Bushfire ‘Big Appeal’ saw a plethora of cricket legends turn back the clock and give cricket fans one more glimpse of their precocious skills. The likes of Brett Lee, Ricky Ponting, Courtney Walsh, Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, and many other legends came together for a common cause — to raise funds for the devastation caused by the Bushfires in Australian forests this winter.

The game threw up a plethora of memorable moments that fans will savour forever which include Ricky Ponting chasing Courtney Walsh’s ‘moon-ball’ which he proceeded to dispatch for a boundary, Brian Lara unleashing his trademark cover drives and Brett Lee, who showed that he has still got it to trouble any batsman in the world.

Lee has had a plethora of engrossing battles with Yuvraj Singh throughout his decorated career. Who can forget the nonchalant six that the stylish southpaw stroked towards deep square-leg in the 2007 T20 World Cup semi-final or ‘Binga’ knocking over Yuvraj at the Sydney Cricket Ground back in 2004 VB series?

Leading into the game, one of the must-see battles that everyone was waiting for was between Brett Lee and Yuvraj Singh. And, it was the Aussie legend that came out trumps.

Ponting XI cruised to the victory by 1 run

It all happened during the fifth over of Gilchrist XI’s run chase of 105 when the former speedster bowled a length delivery on the line of the stumps.

Yuvraj, in an attempt to clear the distance, clipped it over long-on but he could only get the height, not the elevation as Alex Blackwell claimed a brilliant catch just near the ropes, much to the delight of Lee and his teammates. The video of Lee dismissing Yuvraj Singh was posted by Cricket Australia’s official Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Ponting XI proceeded to trump Gilchrist XI by one run in a high-scoring and hugely entertaining encounter. After having racked up 5-104 in 20 overs, Ponting XI looked in trouble when Shane Watson and Adam Gilchrist peeled off 49 runs in the first three overs. However, a middle-order collapse ensued, paving way for an eventual one-run win for Ponting XI.
