Caribbean Premier League 2018 to kickoff in August

The sixth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will get underway on August 8 and the final of the tournament will be played on September 16, as announced by the authorities on Wednesday (January 31). This time around Windies team has no international fixtures during the tournament which will attract star Carribean players to participate in the tournament.
The first two seasons of the CPL witnessed five teams competing against each other, whereas the three previous editions of the tournament have featured six franchises including a franchise owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions, the Knight Riders defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to clinch the title in the previous edition of the tournament.
The opening round matches will be played in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. As the tournament progresses, the teams are expected to play a few matches in Florida, United States. The CPL is considered a big party for the cricket loving people of West Indies.

According to the CEO of cricket West Indies Johnny Grave, the 2018 season of the league will be the biggest season in the history of CPL. “The CPL is now the start of our domestic season and we are delighted that we have found a window when all of the best cricketers from the Caribbean will be available to take part,” Johnny Grave, the CEO of Cricket West Indies said. “We are sure that 2018 will be the biggest season yet.”
According to the Chief Operating Officer of the CPL Pete Russell, the window will help the biggest party in sport become even larger since all West Indies players will be available along with many international stars.
“Here in the Caribbean, we are blessed with some of the most exciting cricketers in the world and it is fantastic news that all West Indies players will be available in 2018,” Russell said. “It will help make the Biggest Party in Sport even bigger.”
The CPL is expected to witness players like Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and international superstars like Rashid Khan, Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Nabi. CPL has been a successful tournament in the first five editions, Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinbago Knight Riders have captured the title twice.
