Chadwick Walton and Darren Sammy to stay in isolation for 14 days after returning from Pakistan

Both the players were part of the PSL in Pakistan.

The rising proliferation of the World Health Organisation- an approved pandemic that is the Coronavirus, has proceeded to put the entire world on a standstill. From borders to schools to colleges to the sporting world, everything has been put on the back burner, as the world braces itself for a temporary lockdown.

Sports calendars have been massacred courtesy Coronavirus fears and cricket is no exception. One of the tournaments that was still going around despite the rising threat of COVID-19 was the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

However, with rising indications that one of the foreign players may have developed corona symptoms, the tournament was suspended with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ordering tests of 128 people associated with the league.

All people associated with PSL tested negative

Luckily, all the samples were tested negative and two of those people that underwent quarantine- Chadwick Walton and Peshawar Zalmi head coach Darren Sammy- will be under 14-day isolation. “Heading home is always a great feeling for me but this time there are some mixed feelings because I think I will have to be in isolation for 14 days,” Walton said as quoted by cricketpakistan.co.pk.

However, the 34-year-old is not worried about contracting the virus in Pakistan since foreign cricketers, anyway did not have any interaction with the public due to security issues. He added: “From the start of the tournament due to the security protocol we had limited contact with the wider society so as a result of that we had limited contact with the virus,”

Former Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy is also optimistic that the situation surrounding COVID-19 will get back to normalcy in the upcoming days. “Just touchdown in St Lucia. Did my social distancing, washed my hands thoroughly, didn’t touch my mouth eyes and nose with my hands now I gotta wait 14 days before seeing the love ones even though my covid19 test came out negative a day before leaving Pakistan.

We have to do what’s best to stop the spread. At least I’m home. This to shall come to pass,” said Darren Sammy via his Instagram account.
