Team India completed a come-from-behind 2-1 series win over the Bangladeshi Tigers with an emphatic 30-run-win at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur on Sunday night. One of the major talking points leading into the India-Bangladesh series was how will the Rohit Sharma-led team management slot in youngsters into the playing eleven, considering the fact that a chunk of seniors like regular captain Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya was missing from the set-up.

One of the players, who everyone was looking forward to seeing in India colors was tearaway swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman from Kerala and Rajasthan Royals- Sanju Samson. Samson, who unfortunately missed out on the opportunity to showcase his credentials, celebrated his twenty-fifth birthday on Monday, November 11.

Samson took to his personal Instagram account to share the scenes of his birthday celebration with the Indian cricketers. The funny part of the video came when Sanju Samson, after cutting the cake, moved towards his senior teammates like Rohit Sharma to share the piece. When Rohit Sharma didn’t come, someone from behind shouted ‘Chahal ke muh pe maar’ (throw it on Yuzvendra Chahal’s face) and Samson did exactly that.’

Samson duly captioned the video as “Chahal ke mu pe maar de” and I did what I was told to do…Was a special birthday celebration…Thank you all @indiancricketteam.”

A chance for Sanju Samson to strengthen his case by performing in SMAT20

Meanwhile, the chances of Sanju Samson making to the playing 11 have peaked once again after the incumbent wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant endured another horrendous series both in front and behind the wickets. It’s not only the paucity of runs that would be worrying to Pant or Indian fans. Its again manner in which he got out and also his atrocious keeping and equally bad Decision Review System calls that once again put the spotlight firmly on the Southpaw.

Speaking of Sanju Samson, the right-hander will have a further chance of strengthening his case for the upcoming series against West Indies in December, if he can continue performing in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20.
