The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is fast drawing to a close, with only the grand finale remaining to unfold. The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai will be hosting the high-octane event as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns in an epic battle of the best to lift the trophy.
The question that must be hounding the minds of fans all over the globe right now is obvious: who’s going to win it this time around? According to a recent survey, MS Dhoni-led CSK team is the clear favourite to take the title. Whether or not they’re able to turn those hopes into reality and script the perfect comeback story in the history of the tournament, only time’ll tell.
CSK favourites to win IPL 2018, Dhoni most popular player
According to reports by cricketnmore.com, a survey singled out the Chennai Super Kings as the clear favourites for the title. The survey has been conducted by Indian Sports Fan, the largest online sports fan community. CSK have performed consistently throughout the season and was the first team to have qualified for the final.
In addition, the survey also found Mahendra Singh Dhoni to be the most popular and respected player amongst fans. MSD has led his team from the front in the ongoing tournament with his captaincy as well as in the field with the bat. While the former India skipper raked up 27.3 per cent of fan votes for the criteria from a list of the top 12 players, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli received 22 per cent and SRH captain Kane Williamson had 20.11 per cent next to his name.
Further, it made an attempt to adjudge the most preferred venue of IPL 2018 and the answer was Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. Wankhede received 30 per cent votes followed by Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium that got 20.22 per cent votes, as compared to eight other stadiums. The extensive survey was conducted amongst 14,000 fans across 10 cities, with 4,802 successful respondents.
