The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on Wednesday, suspended its team doctor Dr Madhu Thottappillil for his distasteful tweet on his personal account. He had expressed his views on the martyred Indian soldiers in the Indo-China face-off at the Galwan Valley taking a dig at the PM CARES fund.

The India-China face-off at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh led to as many as 20 Indian soldiers being killed in action on Monday and Tuesday. The citizens of the nation are paying tribute to the martyred soldiers on social media for sacrificing their lives for the country. India, at the same time, is already facing the Coronavirus pandemic which is probably at its peak in the nation at the moment.

Coming back to Madhu’s tweet, he came up with a tweet taking potshots at the government asking if the coffins of the martyred soldiers will come with ‘PM CARES” sticker on it. For the unversed, the Prime Minister Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) has been raised to fight with the pandemic. The citizens of the country have donated to the fund generously to help the nation.

However, time and again, many have questioned the usage of the fund asking the government to disclose its details. Dr Madhu also did indirectly the same which didn’t go down well with the CSK franchise. “Just curious if the Coffins will come back with a “PM CARES” sticker on them?” his tweet read.

CSK takes a quick action

However, the CSK wasn’t pleased at all with the doctor’s tweet as it was an insult to the Indian soldiers as well. The franchise straight away decided to suspend Madhu from his position and clarified its stance on the matter. CSK cleared that they had no knowledge about the tweet.

“The Chennai Super Kings Management was not aware of the personal tweet of Dr. Madhu Thottappillil. He has been suspended from his position as the Team Doctor. Chennai Super Kings regrets his tweet which was without the knowledge of the Management and in bad taste,” the tweet read. Meanwhile, Dr Madhu’s tweet has been deleted.
