Cheteshwar Pujara, Harmanpreet Kaur thank fans after receiving Arjuna Award

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) forwarded the names of Indian Test cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, and star all-rounder of the Women’s team, Harmanpreet Kaur, as their nomination for the Arjuna Award this year. The BCCI sent the names to the Ministry of Sports recently. They remarked that the kind of performances that both players have come up with in the recent past deserves a lot of credit.
The office bearers had no hesitation or confusion in unanimously naming Cheteshwar Pujara and Harmanpreet Kaur for the prestigious honor this year. As per the quotes in Zee News, a senior office bearer reiterated the same. He mentioned that the two names have been forwarded to the sports ministry. Both cricketers will be rewarded for their consistent showing in the recent times for the national side.
“We have sent Cheteshwar and Harmanpreet’s name for the Arjuna award. The names have been forwarded to the Ministry of Sports. Both have been exceptional performers during last season and were unanimous choice from our end,” a senior official quoted.
Players acknowledge the fan support
Both Harmanpreet Kaur and Cheteshwar Pujara felt humbled to have received this honor. In a video post shared by the BCCI, the two cricketers thanked their fans for the unconditional support and love that they have showered on them. The Arjuna Award is the highest sporting honor in India. Pujara and Kaur were seen thanking the fans and speaking about how privileged and honored they feel on receiving the Arjuna Award.
The BCCI added a caption to the video wherein they wrote, “WATCH: Indian duo Harmanpreet Kaur & Cheteshwar Pujara thanked their fans with a Video message for the unconditional love and support and spoke about the sense of pride in receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award #TeamIndia.”
