After Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli apologised to his fans and supporters of RCB for their lacklustre performance in this season of IPL, it was the turn of the flamboyant Caribbean opener, Chris Gayle, to express his disappointment at his personal performance and also with the performance of his franchise. RCB are languishing at the bottom of the points table and will finish their campaign against Delhi Daredevils on Sunday.
Nothing has worked in the favour of RCB in this season so far and despite having a star-studded batting line-up, they have failed to seize their opportunities which have cost them badly. They have kept on losing matches after matches and Virat Kohli has been lost for words to describe their horrendous performance in this season so far. It is pretty unfortunate for a side who was the runners-up in the previous edition of the tournament.
“I cannot be happy with my performance and with my team performance as well. It’s been disappointing,” Gayle was quoted as saying by ANI. “Apologies to the fans. We all are hurt. It’s amazing how they (fans) still come to the stadium and support us. I hope to do better next year,” he further added.
They have seen some unprecedented lows in the tournament so far with the worst of them being getting bowled out for the lowest score in IPL history. They were shot out for 49 against the Kolkata Knight Riders chasing a below par 131. The Big 3 comprising of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have failed to get going and have added to the woes of the franchise.
With their last match of the tournament coming up on 14th May against the Delhi Daredevils, they will definitely look to finish the tournament on a high but each and every member of the squad will surely be utterly disappointed with their dubious performance in this season.
