Finally, the Universe Boss Chris Gayle has arrived in the ongoing fourth edition of the T10 League. He is currently playing for the Team Abu Dhabi in the tournament and after several quiet outings, the Gayle storm hit the Maratha Arabians on Wednesday. The Abu Dhabi side chased down the 98-run target in just 5.3 overs thanks to some sensational knock from Gayle.

In the process, Chris Gayle also slammed the joint-fastest fifty in the history of the T10 League getting to the 50-run mark in just 12 balls. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad had achieved the feat previously during the 2018 season of the tournament. Gayle, meanwhile, remained unbeaten in the heroic chase smashing 84 runs off just 22 balls leaving the fans and the opposition stunned not for the first time in his career.

He first opened the innings with Paul Stirling who got out after 11 runs while Joe Clarke, batting at number three, mustered an unbeaten 5. But nothing mattered when Chris Gayle was batting at the other end who went berserk hitting six fours and nine sixes and never looked like getting out at all.

Maratha Arabians somehow post 97 runs

Earlier in the game, after being put in to bat first, Muktar Ali got out soon after scoring 14 off 7 deliveries. However, Alishan Sharafu played a few lusty strokes scoring 33 runs off 23 balls. Mohammad Hafeez, in this game, batted at three and scored a quick-fire 20 while Shoaib Malik played a cameo of 15 to end strongly for the team.

The Arabians managed to post 97 runs for the loss of four wickets in 10 overs with Obed McCoy returning with the figures of 2/20 in his two overs. All the hard work from the Arabians was undone in a jiffy due to Chris Gayle going all guns blazing with the bat. Team Abu Dhabi will now be delighted that their best batsman is back in form and will be hoping that he continues in the same form.

This win was a much-needed one for the Abu Dhabi side and are at the fourth position in the points table with two wins in five matches. With only a game left, they will be keen on making it to the playoffs and going all the way in the tournament.
