Chris Gayle reveals how many more T20 centuries he will score before retiring

At 40, most of the sportspersons enjoy their retired life but Chris Gayle is an exception by a big mile. The West Indies superstar is not only active in the game but is also showing no signs of slowing down. Time and again, the evergreen star has proved that age is just a number and it would not be at all surprising if he keeps doing it in the years to come.

The left-handed batsman made his international debut way back in 1999 and is currently one of the most experienced if not the most experienced cricketers in the world. In the last few years, he has not been an active member of West Indies team but has been featuring in franchises cricket across the globe on a consistent basis.

And on Sunday, Chris Gayle made it clear that he would continue to ply his trade as a cricketer for some good amount of time. The West Indies legend took to Twitter to state that he would score ten more centuries before taking a call on his career. He was responding to a tweet from this website on Twitter where it was mentioned that he holds the record for most centuries in T20s. In reply, he wrote: “10 more to come”.

The former West Indies skipper is the most decorated batsman in the history of T20s. In a format where scoring a century is still an upheaval task, he has scored a staggering 22 of them in addition to scoring 82 fifties. He has scored a staggering 13,296 runs in the shortest format of the game. With Chris Gayle showing no signs of slowing down, the numbers are only going to get better in the coming days.

In T20 Internationals too, he boasts a stunning record. The southpaw, who hit the first century in T20Is, has helped West Indies win two T20 World Cups. He has scored 2 centuries and 13 fifties in international cricket.

No action for some time

Chris Gayle won’t be seen in action for some time because of the coronavirus pandemic. The hard-hitting batsman was set to play in the Everest Premier League before it was postponed. He was set to play for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL too before the tournament was suspended till April 15.
