The West Indian batsmen are the flavor of every T20 league for a very simple reason. They bring in some flair and joy into a serious looking game, and they also hit huge sixes. Well, most of the Windies players can hit the ball a long way and Chris Gayle and Andre Russell have proven it from time to time.

Recently, both of them enthralled the fans big time in the IPL 2019 as they combined for 86 sixes in the tournament. Gayle can rightly be called as the greatest of T20 cricket and ever since the advent of the format, he has changed the way ODI cricket is played as well. In the last edition of World Cup, he became the first batsman to make a double century in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Russell is not far behind, given his exploits in the various T20 leagues and the duo is certainly in competition for owning the tag of the bigger hitter in world cricket. Recently, in an interview for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Gayle was asked to compare his hitting with that of Russell’s and the universe boss came up with some hilarious answers like only he can do.

Who is the more dangerous hitter?

On being asked who is the most fearsome batsman amongst him and Russell, Gayle said, “That has to be universe boss. It goes with doubt. I set the trend, but Russell is right up there. Bowlers fear Russell.” It is true that the universe boss makes the bowlers tremble in fear when he takes the strike, given his reputation of hitting 323 sixes at the international level.

Next and the most interesting question asked was who hit the longest sixes in cricket, Gayle or Russell. The 39-year-old put himself ahead even here and said, “It has to be me as well. Russell can hit a long ball, but most of the times, his sixes are flat and hard and powerful. My sixes are bigger and travel longer.”
