One of India’s best tourist destinations Kerala suffered difficult time with Indian Government being very close to declaring the flood as a national calamity. With Kerala being on the west side of Arabian Sea, the gravity of the issue turned out to be even more serious with more than 350 citizens lost their lives and many more who found themselves injured and homeless.

Seeing at the atrocities, Home Minister Rajnath Singh asked the Central Government to immediately release 500 crores before the situation turns even worse. Further, the Indian government with the help of the Indian Army rescued thousands of people. However, the required money to build up the lost infrastructure and other amenities would cost over 20,000 crores.

Seeing the current scenario, many citizens of India along with many International organizations are making their contribution to Kerala Relief Fund. With UAE offering 700 crores to people making their contribution which eventually turned out to be more than 20 crores via online money transfer app, Paytm it has been seen that almost everyone is willing to support the cause.

Just a Social Media Product?

However, amid such activity down in the Southern-most state of India, certain rumours of sportspersons like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo’s apparent donations to the cause have created a storm on social media. It has been said that Portugal striker Ronaldo has made a contribution of 77 crores, and MS and Virat have contributed nearly 100 crores each, is yet to confirmed by the top officials.

In this while, skipper Virat Kohli had also tweeted saying, Everyone in Kerala, please be safe and stay indoors as much as you can. Hope the situation recovers soon. Also, thank the Indian army and NDRF for their incredible support in this critical condition. Stay strong and stay safe.”

Till now, the figures have only been spread via social media posts and WhatsApp messages, with the authenticity of such claims yet to be established. It will be interesting to see whether the figures posted on all the platforms are genuinely true or it’s just a social media product.
