As per latest developments, Vinod Rai, who is leading the four-member Committee of Administrators (COA) which was appointed by the Supreme Court, has said that the official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) do not have to take permission from the COA to call for a body general meeting.
However, he also said that the COA has to be kept on loop and informed about everything. Speaking to the media during an event, he said that BCCI officials can call the meeting by just keeping the COA informed about it. Rai also mentioned that the date for the next annual meeting is not yet finalized and the COA will step in if only decisions taken by the BCCI officials violate the orders given by the Supreme Court.
From the past few days, a lot of rumors emerged on who was the man who would lead the proceeding of the Indian Premier League 2017, but Rai cleared the air about it saying that IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla will chair the Governing Council meet and be the head of the cash-rich league.
Questions were earlier raised on Shukla’s position after it was decided that the Committee of Administrators would monitor the proceedings of the all-important IPL Governing Council meeting on Thursday.
All the previous 9 years, the IPL FC meeting was held under the BCCI but this year it will be under the COA and a host of new decisions are expected to be taken.
“The circumstances have changed. So everything needs to happen under COA unless Mr (Vinod) Rai himself instructs Mr (Rajeev) Shukla to chair the meeting,” a source told PTI.
Sourav Ganguly is also a part of the IPL Governing Council and therefore will attend the meeting.
