In the second match between Australia and India at Kolkata, apart from the Kuldeep Yadav hattrick, the other point of interest was the conversation between Matthew Wade and Indian captain Virat Kohli. The move of Kohli sneaking a single while Wade injured his fingers, didn’t go down well with bowler Marcus Stoinis and the wicketkeeper.

Indians continue their dominance with their 8th successive ODI win and 11th consecutive International win, with their 50-run victory over Australia. India leads the 5-match series by 2-0 with three matches to go. Kohli, who did not score against his favourite opponents in six innings, dominated with the bat yet again with his 92 to end his dry spell against the Aussies.

During his majestic knock, Kedar Jadhav missed one from Stoinis and the ball landed right in front of Wade. The awkward bounce led to Wade injuring his fingers while trying to grab the ball. Wade who visibly looked in agony, took his eyes off the ball and situational awareness of Kohli urged him to sneak in a single.

The move of Kohli didn’t amuse Stoinis first as he was involved in a long conversation with the bowler. In between the overs, Wade chirped something past Kohli and the latter gave a long reply to the wicketkeeper woefully out of form, both with bat and gloves.

While Kohli was taking guard, Wade was overheard lashing out at Kohli with the help of the stump mic. “I might have a cry like you. I might go to the dressing rooms and have a good cry like you. Everyone has to feel sorry for you,” quoted Wade, citing out the incident of Ranchi Test where Kohli didn’t take the field after injuring his shoulders.

To which Virat Kohli replied by saying, “Did anyone from my side mock you?” tracing back to the incident where the Indian captain was mocked by the Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. The likes of Stoinis and Wade questioned Kohli spirit of the game where clearly it is the other party at fault.
