Rashid Khan has emerged as one of the best spinners the cricketing world has witnessed in recent years. The leg spinner also produces enough pace which makes it difficult for the batters to read him. The Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has however opened up on Rashid stating that the leg-spinner is one of the best bowlers he has ever faced.

The Afghanistan spinner is renowned for bowling lethal googlies, which have more often than not created problems for the batters. He also brings in good variations and speed owing to which the batters do not get enough time to react to his deliveries and fall in his trap. Wasim recounted the incident of facing Rashid in the Bangladesh Premier League and heaped praises on the spinner.

I couldn’t pick a single ball for literally four overs against Rashid: Imad Wasim

“Rashid Khan, it is so simple. He is one of the best bowlers I have ever faced. I played with him in the Bangladesh Premier League and he used to bowl at me in the nets. And at that time I realized that he is someone who is very different. When I played against him in the 2019 World Cup, I couldn’t pick a single ball for literally four overs. I think Rashid Khan, I respect him a lot. He is a very good friend of mine. As a cricketer, I think everyone in the world would agree with me that he is one of the toughest bowlers we’ve ever faced,” Wasim said in the show ‘Around the wicket

Rashid has proven his prowess ever since he has made his debut. In the Indian Premier League as well, he has been one of the most impactful bowlers. When at crunch moments, the captain of the side hands over the mantle to the leg-spinner, and he has often lived up to the expectations. Considering these points, the former India cricketer Virender Sehwag recently reckoned that if IPL teams are allowed to retain foreign players then SRH must retain Rashid.

“That call [whether foreign players can be retained or not] has not been made yet. If indeed foreign players can be retained, then Rashid Khan is a no-brainer of a choice. No matter the team, everyone would want to retain that kind of a player, he is that good,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
