‘It’s every cricketer’s dream to come here and play at the home of cricket’: Shaheen Afridi

“It’s every cricketer’s dream to come here and play at the home of cricket. Now I want to take 10 (wickets in an innings). When you play for your country you always feel proud and that came against Bangladesh so it was a good game for me as well. As a youngster, you’re playing in a World Cup game and you take six wickets so yes, it’s a big high for me and one of the best memories for me,” Afridi told reporters at Lord’s ahead of Middlesex’s match against Leicestershire.

Talking about Afridi numbers in international cricket, the left-arm pacer has represented Pakistan in 40 T20Is and 30 ODIs and has taken 47 and 59 wickets respectively. Talking about his numbers in Test cricket, the 22-year-old has played 24 matches and has grabbed 95 wickets in the red-ball format. Overall, the left-arm seamer has also scalped four five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.

Shaheen Afridi was recently conferred with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2021. He also played a vital role for Pakistan against the arch-rivals India during a group stage match of the T20 World Cup.
