The Test series between Bangladesh and Australia were marked by dominant performances by the spinners of both the sides. Players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mehedi Hasan, Nathan Lyon and Taijul Islam stole the show completely in a low scoring series. The fast bowlers did not have much to do on tracks which favoured spin bowling to a great extent.

Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman did not have a fruitful time in the first Test at Dhaka. He got to bowl just 14 overs in it without a single wicket where as a brilliant Shakib Al Hasan picked up 5 wicket hauls in both the innings. However, Mustafizur made a stunning comeback in the second Test at Chittagong. The bowler was crucial in providing important breakthroughs which prevented Australia from building big partnerships. He finished the match with 5 wickets to his name.

What Walsh had to say:

Bowling coach and West Indian legend Courtney Walsh was extremely impressed with the left handed pacer. He showered praise on the bowler and mentioned that the wickets will boost his confidence in the future. “Mustafizur did excellent job; his aggressiveness speared out in the match. Along with that, Mustafizur showed that his bowling is under control. I think, after the wickets he gained against Australia in the last Test will bring him more confidence in the tour to come,” Walsh said.

Mustafizur Rahman took the wicket of Australia’s vice captain and Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate David Warner in both innings of the Chittagong Test. Speaking about the same, Walsh said that the wickets of David Warner does not make Mustafizur special. “Taking the wicket of David Warner in two innings doesn’t mean it took him to a different height. Warner, of course, a world class batsman. And taking his wicket is significant because both of them were team mates in the Indian Premier League (IPL).”
