The skipper of Guyana Amazon Warriors Shoaib Malik has left the ongoing season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) mid-way. He will join the training camp organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the Asia Cup which is set to begin on September 15. The franchise has replaced him with Chris Green who was initially with the squad as a cover for Cameron Delport and will continue to feature for them for the rest of the season.

Warriors will feel the absence of their captain who is experienced and was leading the side well. He had scored 119 runs in five outings at an impressive strike-rate of 132.22 by giving the much-needed finishing kick to the innings coming down the order. He didn’t bowl much though and will definitely be missed in the line-up going ahead in the competition.

Who is Chris Green?

Chris Green is the South African bowler and has already played 4 matches for the Warriors this season. He has so far picked 5 wickets at a brilliant economy of 6.96 and will be looking to continue in the same vein for the rest of the tournament. He plays for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) and has played 31 T20 matches so far in his short career.

He also shone with the willow and scored a handy 25 runs against St Kitts Nevis and Patriots, the game which his team won by six wickets. Warriors are currently placed fourth in the points table with 6 points to their name after five matches.

With five more games to go, they would be eager to continue their winning run and make the most of the early advantage they have on the other teams. Warriors will now face the in-form Patriots for the second time this season in their own den on Tuesday and will be hoping that once again they will be able to triumph against them.
