Imran Tahir, the Lahore-born South African leg-spinner has been an integral figure for the national team, especially the limited-overs formats. At the age of 39, the veteran might not be a livewire, but his enthusiasm to play the game hasn’t died down by any stretch of the imagination. He is presently representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tahir has played three games thus far in which he has picked three wickets. Recently, he has also been drafted in to play for the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) side in the upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in the West Indies. Following his selection, Tahir expressed his delight and hailed the tournament for dishing out high-quality cricket.

“Go and express myself”- Imran Tahir

“It’s very exciting for me and I guess it’s very challenging for me as well. I have been watching CPL on TV for the last couple of years and it looks a very good standard, and I just want to go and express myself and try do well and that’s what I am looking for,” the leg-break bowler was quoted as saying by ANI.

In the media-interaction, Tahir reminisced the last occasion when he toured the nation with the Proteas in 2016 to participate in a One-Day International series against Australia and the hosts. He was superlative in the series and emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets. In six games, Tahir bagged 13 wickets.

“I have been there once and I really enjoyed it. It’s spinning friendly so no complaints. Beautiful islands and people are very nice. I just had a really good time and I’m really looking forward to my second trip,” a jubilated Tahir expressed.

South Africa could only manage a couple of wins in the series and therefore crashed out of the series before the final.
