Guyana Amazon Warriors have already sealed the top spot in the league stage of this season’s CPL. In the last two matches, there’s a lot of incentives to go after. Trinbago Knight Riders and the Barbados Tridents are scheduled to lock horns at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain. It’s also TKR’s last game at the venue this season and a victory will help them finish second in the points table.

It will also push the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the third position, making them play the Eliminator. On the other hand, a win for the Tridents will get them up to second in the table. Ahead of the next game, the odds are stacked against the visitors. This season, they haven’t won back-to-back games. Moreover, Barbados have lost all their five encounters versus the Knight Riders at the very venue.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch was an excellent one for batting the other day. All the three night games have been won by the team, batting first. But in the last game it was seen that the chasing side got advantage of the dew. However, it will be safe to bat first, put a decent score on the board and then put pressure on the opposition. There will be chance of rain with the temperature around 27 degrees Celsius.

Team Combinations

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Knight Riders have to bring back Sunil Narine, who missed the last game due to unknown reasons. He will be a handy prospect on a slow wicket. Colin Munro started with a 96*, but hasn’t quite got going ever since. The onus will be on Lendl Simmons, TKR’s leading run-scorer to make use of the powerplay. Darren Bravo is starting to get into his rhythm with a fifty in the last encounter.

Pollard has arguably been the Knights’ best bet in the middle order and a lot will depend on him. In the bowling department, Searles was expensive last time, having conceded 39 in his three overs, though he got a few important wickets. Jordan was also rusty in his first match. Ali Khan has leaked runs, but he bowled brilliantly versus the Warriors. Pierre remains a key, especially in the powerplay.

Probable XI

Sunil Narine/Mark Deyal, Lendl Simmons, Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard (C), James Neesham, Javon Searles, Khary Pierre, Chris Jordan, Ali Khan

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents have depended heavily on their bowling this season. Hayden Walsh has been outstanding. The leg-spinner is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 scalps from only five games. Not to forget his fifer against the Knights itself last time. They also have skipper Jason Holder, who has 12 wickets. Harry Gurney’s change of pace has been an enigma for the batters.

Shakib Al Hasan has an economy of 4.25 in two games and even Raymon Reifer has seven wickets to his name. In the batting department, JP Duminy and Johnson Charles with 249 and 271 runs respectively will be key elements. The others have been inconsistent. Reifer can be promoted, bearing in mind his hitting capabilities. Shakib has shown a fair bit of intent with the bat as well.

Probable XI

Johnson Charles (wk), Alex Hales, Shakib Al Hasan, JP Duminy, Justin Greaves, Raymon Reifer, Jonathan Carter, Ashley Nurse, Jason Holder (C), Hayden Walsh, Harry Gurney
