Preview:
The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots will host Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Tridents on consecutive days. The Carlos Brathwaite-led side lost both the matches they played in this tournament thus far – against Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors. They would like to change the fact in their first home match against the Tallawahs, who suffered a 22-run defeat against TKR on Friday.
The Patriots have been short of a specialist batsman who could provide stability and allow them to score 20-25 more runs. Laurie Evans could well change their fortunes who is expected to be available from the home-leg matches. His T20 Blast side Sussex knocked out in the quarter-finals last week. Tallawahs would be aiming to find out an ideal position and situation to get Andre Russell to the crease.
Weather Condition/Report:
Clear skies could be welcoming CPL 2019 to the Warner Park in St Kitts. However, the weather forecast indicates showers during the night. The chances of showers increase from 7 PM local time while the match starts at 6 PM only. However, these showers are unlikely to cause a long interruption to this match.
Pitch Condition/Report:
The Warner Park in Basseterre hosted four completed matches in the previous edition of the CPL. All those four game recorded first-innings totals of 160+ and in three of those, the chasing sides won. The venue is known for producing high-scoring matches and chases in ODI format too. However, it tends to slow down in the second half of the second innings.
Average first innings score: 185 (CPL matches in 2018)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Lost – 1
