Trinbago Knight Riders cruised into the final with yet another convincing victory and extended their winning streak to 11 in this process. Akeal Hosein took 3/14 with the new ball to leave the Jamaica Tallawahs at 28/4 by end of the powerplay. Nkrumah Bonner (41) and Rovman Powell (33) scored runs but it came at a strike rate below 100 as Tallawahs crawled to 107/7. Lendl Simmons (54*) and Tion Webster (44*) helped the Knight Riders to chase the target with five overs to spare.

Trinbago’s winning streaks:

11 – Trinbago Knight Riders now have won each of their last 11 matches in the Caribbean Premier League. This is now the joint-longest winning spree for any team in the history of CPL. TKR equalled Guyana Amazon Warriors’ 11-match winning streak during the 2019 edition.

6 – The Trinbago Knight Riders won each of their last six CPL matches against the Jamaica Tallawahs. TKR’s streak against the Tallawahs began from 2nd half of the 2018 edition.


Simmons goes past Gayle:

18 – Lendl Simmons now has scored 18 fifties in the CPL which are the most fifty-plus scores for any player in the league. Lendl went past Chris Gayle’s 17 fifty-plus scores in the league which includes four hundreds. Simmons’ tally of 2352 runs is just two runs behind Chris Gayle’s 2354 runs.


Mujeeb’s record season with the ball:

16Mujeeb Ur Rahman ended the tournament with 16 wickets which are the 3rd most in a CPL edition for Jamaica Tallawahs. Oshane Thomas (in 2018) and Kesrick Williams (in 2016) picked up 18 and 17 wickets respectively while Krishmar Santokie also took 16 wickets in 2015.


Sandeep’s first wicketless game:

9 – Sandeep Lamichhane went wicketless for the first time in this CPL. He picked up at least one wicket in all the nine innings where he bowled during the league phase. Only Oshane Thomas (10 in 2018) and Kesrick Williams (9 in 2017) have picked up a wicket in nine or more matches during a CPL edition for Jamaica Tallawahs.


Narine increases his domination in maidens:

24 – Sunil Narine now has bowled 24 maiden overs in the Twenty20 format; three more than the next best Samuel Badree (21). 12 of those 24 maidens came during the CPL where no player bowled more than eight such overs.


Brathwaite’s misery:

65 – Carlos Brathwaite had a strike rate of 65 during his unbeaten 13 off 20 deliveries. Only one player in the history of CPL had a lower strike rate during an unbeaten knock while batting first. (Min: 20 balls) Sunil Ambris had a strike rate of 57.69 when he remained not out scoring 15 off 26 balls for St Lucia Zouks against Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2017.


A rare promotion for Mujeeb:

3 – Mujeeb Ur Rahman got promoted to No.3 position where he bagged a duck. This was the first time Mujeeb ever batted in the top seven in his professional career. The highest Mujeeb batted in his professional career was No.8 during last year’s IPL game against Rajasthan Royals.
