Defending champions Barbados Tridents succumbed to their 3rd successive defeat following their 6-wicket loss to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. As many as five players scored 20+ runs for the Tridents helping them to finish with 151/7 in the 20 overs. Evin Lewis fought the chase all alone during his stay as he smashed nine sixes in his 60-ball 89. Denesh Ramdin’s 20 off 32 balls increased the required rate pressure as the Patriots were left needing 20 runs from last nine balls after Lewis’ dismissal. The equation came down to 12 runs from 5 balls before Ben Dunk smashed successive sixes to finish off the chase.

End of Patriots’ losing streak:
4 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots ended their 4-match losing streak in CPL with the 6-wicket win on Tuesday. They lost the Eliminator game during the 2019 season and lost each of their first three matches this year. This 4-match losing streak is the biggest for the Patriots since the start of the 2017 edition.
Yet another defeat for Tridents in Port of Spain:
8/9 – Barbados Tridents now has lost eight of the nine CPL matches they played at the Queen’s Park Oval. Their lone win at this venue came during the last season against the hosts Trinbago Knight Riders.
Lewis moves up the charts:
14 – Number of fifty-plus scores for Evin Lewis in the history of CPL; the joint 3rd most 50+ scores for any player in this league. Chris Gayle (17) and Lendl Simmons (16) are ahead of Lewis while Colin Munro also has 14 fifty-plus scores in the CPL.
A game of sixes for Lewis:
9 – Number of sixes Evin Lewis struck during his 89-run knock; the 2nd most number of sixes for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in a CPL inning. Lewis himself struck 11 maximums during his unbeaten 97 in 2017 also against the Tridents.
148.33 – Evin Lewis’ strike rate of 148.33 is the lowest in a Twenty20 innings for a player where they struck eight or more sixes. The previous lowest was 153.19 by Nicholas Pooran in the 2019 BPL game against Dhaka Dynamites. Pooran scored 72 runs from 47 balls in that game with help of nine sixes.
CPL’s slowest knock:
62.5 – Denesh Ramdin had a strike rate of 62.5 during his 32-ball 20 which makes it the joint slowest knock in terms of strike rate in the CPL. (Min: 20 runs scored) Shacaya Thomas also scored 20 off 32 balls during the 2014 season game for Antigua Hawksbills against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Holder only behind Narine:
5 – Number of maiden overs bowled by Jason Holder in the CPL; the 2nd most number of maidens by a bowler in the CPL history. Sunil Narine leads the list with as many as 11 maidens overs; more than twice than the next best.
