St Lucia Zouks continue their good work in the CPL 2020 as they cruised to a 6-wicket win against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Mohammad Nabi wrenched the batting of Patriots with his maiden T20 5-wicket haul. Nabi claimed the wickets of opposition’s top four in his first two overs during the powerplay. The Patriots managed to finish with 110/9 thanks to some contributions down the order. Rahkeem Cornwall’s 11-ball 26 set the tone for St Lucia’s chase who completed it in 14.4 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Here are all the statistical highlights from St Lucia’s comfortable victory over the Patriots:
St Lucia’s hat-trick against Patriots:
3 – St Lucia Zouks registered their 3rd successive win in the CPL against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. St Lucia started CPL 2020 with a 10-run win against the Patriots and also defeated them by 20 runs last season. This 6-wicket win is also the first successful chase for them against Patriots since the start of 2016 edition.
2016 – St Lucia Zouks registered their first win at the Queen’s Park Oval in more than years. Their last win here came against Trinidad franchise in the 2016 season also by a margin of six wickets. St Lucia played four matches against TKR in this period and lost all of them.
Worst ever performance by a top three:
1 – The top three batters of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots collectively scored just one run which makes it the fewest runs aggregated by a team’s top three during a CPL match. Previous fewest was two runs by the Jamaica Tallawahs against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2016 edition.
The lowest total against St Lucia:
110/9 – The total of 110/9 by the SKN Patriots is the first completed innings where a team failed to even reach 120 against the St Lucia Zouks in the CPL. The previous lowest total for any team in the CPL against St Lucia was 126/6 by Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2013 edition.
Nabi’s maiden 5-wicket haul:
5/15 – Mohammad Nabi’s bowling figures of 5/15 are now the 3rd best bowling figures for any bowler in the CPL. Only Shakib Al Hasan (6/6 for Barbados) against Trinidad in 2013 and Sohail Tanvir (5/3 for Guyana) against Barbados in 2017 registered better bowling figures in CPL than Nabi.
1 – Mohammad Nabi became the first player in the history of CPL to claim a 5-wicket haul for the St Lucia Zouks. The previous best CPL figures for the St Lucia franchise were 4/18 by Keron Cottoy against the Amazon Warriors in 2015. Nabi is also only the 3rd spin bowler after Shakib and Hayden Walsh Jr. (5/19 for Barbados vs Guyana in 2019) to pick a 5-wicket haul in the CPL.
