CPL 2020: Match 30, St Lucia Zouks vs Jamaica Tallawahs – St Lucia’s best season, CPL’s slowest knock and more stats

St Lucia Zouks ended the league phase with a thrilling win over the Jamaica Tallawahs to register their 6th win of the season. Rahkeem Cornwall (32), Roston Chase (32*) and Najibullah Zadran (36) scored 30s to lift St Lucia to a respectable total of 145/6. Glenn Phillips smashed 49 from only 36 balls in the chase and added 84 runs for the first wicket with Jermaine Blackwood (25). The keeper-batsman was dismissed when Tallawahs needed 62 from 50 balls but could only score 50/8 after his wicket.

St Lucia levels their best performance:

6/10 – St Lucia Zouks won six of the ten matches in the league phase of the CPL 2020. These are the joint-most number of matches the St Lucia franchise won in an edition of CPL. St Lucia team won six of the ten league matches in 2016 where they finished at No.3. However, they went down to No.4 ranked TKR team in the Eliminator.

Tallawahs’ struggles in Tarouba:

6 – Jamaica Tallawahs won none of the six matches they played at the Brian Lara Stadium since defeating the St Lucia Zouks in their first match of CPL 2020. The Tallawahs lost five of those six games while another match ended without a result.

Blackwood’s boring fest:

65.79 – Jermaine Blackwood’s strike rate of 65.79 during his 38-ball 25 is the lowest strike rate in a CPL innings of 25 and more runs. The previous lowest was 69.44 by Chadwick Walton during his unbeaten 25 off 36 balls also for the Tallawahs against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2016.

Fletcher goes past Sangakkara:

12 – Andre Fletcher has claimed 12 catches in the CPL 2020 thus far; the most number of catches as a wicketkeeper in a single edition of CPL. Fletcher went past Kumar Sangakkara’s 11 catches during the 2016 edition. Overall, Fletcher’s 12 dismissals in 2020 are the joint 3rd most any keeper in a CPL.

Mujeeb on to the top:

15 – Number of wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs’ Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the CPL 2020; the most by a finger spinner in a single edition of CPL. Mujeeb went past Sunil Narine’s tally of 14 wickets in the 2015 and 2016 editions while Robin Peterson also took 14 wickets in 2015.

A rare duck for Russell in CPL:

3 – Only the 3rd time Andre Russell has been dismissed for a duck in the Caribbean Premier League. Among the 16 players with 1000+ CPL runs, only Andrew Fletcher (0) and Shoaib Malik (2) bagged fewer ducks in the CPL than Russell.
