The Guyana Amazon Warriors will be up against the ST Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the fourth encounter of CPL 2020 scheduled to be played on August 20 at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad.

Both the teams have started off coldly as the Trinbago Knight Riders handed Warriors a 4-wicket defeat in the rain-curtailed inaugural match of the tournament while the Patriots lost to the defending champs Barbados Tridents by 6 runs in the second match held at Trinidad. Therefore, both the teams will be desperate to open accounts and pocket the 2 points up for grab against each other.

Playing combinations

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The openers Brandon King and Chandrapaul Hemraj failed to click and provide a start to the Warriors in the opening act of the tournament against Knight Riders. However, Shimron Hetmyer, through his cautious knock of 63 off 44, did everything that he could have to rescue his team out of trouble after a failed start. The veteran New Zealander, Ross Taylor, looked fluent for his 21-ball 33 and held one end up which allowed Hetmyer to play his natural game.

The Warriors’ skipper Chris Green went wicket-less and finished with match figures of 3-0-31-0. The leggie, Imran Tahir grabbed 2 wickets, however, he was quite expensive and gave away 40 runs in his quota of 4. The pick of the bowlers was Naveen-ul-haq who bagged a couple of wickets at an economy of 5.72 whereas Keemo Paul and Romario Shepherd chipped in with a wicket each.

It seems unlikely that Warriors will make any changes in the coming match.

Predicted XI- Brandon King, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Ross Taylor, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Chris Green (C), Romario Shepherd, Naveen-ul-Haq, Imran Tahir.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The Patriots’ bowlers did a fair job by restricting the Tridents to a modest total of 153. Skipper Rayad Emrit was spot on with his efforts as he bagged a couple of wickets at a miserly economy of 4 whereas Sohail Tanvir and Sheldon Cottrell were quite precise and managed a couple each as well. Though Alzarri Joseph and Ish Sodhi picked a wicket each, both were extremely expensive as they leaked 48 runs and 40 respectively in their quota.

The explosive duo of Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis failed in getting their team off to a good start and the Patriots did not utilize the powerplay to their benefit. After a slowish start at the top, the meticulous run-a-ball 41 of Joshua da Silva did steady the ship for the team, however, asking rate kept climbing up and running away from the reach of the Patriots.

Ben Dunk shined as he played a 21-ball 34 run cameo, although his knock didn’t prove enough to make his side cross the line. Jahmar Hamilton, who was dismissed for a duck, might lose his place to Nick Kelly in the coming encounter whereas Imran Khan might come into replacing Joseph.

Predicted XI- Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Joshua Da Silva, Ben Dunk, Denesh Ramdin (WK), Nick Kelly, Rayad Emrit (C), Sohail Tanvir, Alzarri Joseph/ Imran Khan, Sheldon Cottrell, and Ish Sodhi.
