The 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is currently in progress. The ninth match of the tournament is being played between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings at Warner Park in St Kitts. While the CPL 2021 has hogged the limelight so far for the sportsmanship incidents this season, poor umpiring was on show on Tuesday and the Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard didn’t back out from showing his disappointment.

The incident happened during the 19th over of the TKR’s innings who had to bat first after losing the toss. The team was in the middle of a brilliant partnership between Pollard and Tim Seifert. The duo was looking to add some quick runs in the penultimate when the fifth ball of the over from Wahab Riaz didn’t impress the TKR batsmen.

In a bid to not concede runs, Riaz ran in and delivered a wide yorker. But it was so wide that even after Seifert stretched completely, he couldn’t reach the ball. The batsman had not shuffled even a bit as well and even then, the umpire didn’t call it a wide delivery.

No wonder, the batsmen weren’t happy with the decision and Pollard expressed his disappointment there itself. He had a chat with the umpire questioning his decision and walked away from the non-striker’s end far from the actual position where the batsman had to stand. He stood near 30-yard mark to show his displeasure and the video of the same has gone viral now.

This isn’t the first time that Pollard has taken a disliking to the umpire’s decision and every time he has protested in a unique way, with this being another such incident.

Here’s the video:

TKR post 158 in 20 overs despite poor start

Keeping the controversial aside, the Trinbago Knight Riders managed to recover brilliantly with the bat after finding themselves struggling at 68/4 in the 12th over. Kieron Pollard and Seifert added 78 runs together for the fifth wicket to resurrect the innings as they managed to post 158 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. While the skipper Pollard scored 41 off 29 balls, Seifert showcased his skills smashing 37 off only 25 balls.
