Suryakumar Yadav brought up his maiden international century and cricket fans can’t help but laud the Indian dasher. The occasion was the third T20I between India and England, and the venue was Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Chasing a mammoth 216 in the dead rubber, Yadav came in to bat at number four with India reeling at 13/2. The required run rate was constantly going up and England were firmly on command.

However, little did they know, that Suryakumar is about to put up a batting exhibition. The 31-year-old went after the bowlers from the outset and scored runs all over the park. While Shreyas Iyer, the batter at the other end, struggled to get going, Suryakumar was scoring runs for fun, keeping the required run rate in check.

Suryakumar Yadav fifth Indian to score a T20I century

Notably, Shreyas and Suryakumar added 119 runs for the fourth wicket, out of which the former scored only 28. This shows how dominant the Mumbai Indians batter was. Meanwhile, Suryakumar reached the milestone off 48 balls, joining Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, and Deepak Hooda in the elite list of Indian batters with a T20I century.

Coming to the contest, the game was a mere dead rubber as India had already clinched the series, having won the first two games. With nothing much at stakes, the Men in Blue made four changes in their line-up to test their bench strength. These changes provided a great breather to England batters, who struggled in the first two games.

On this occasion, they put up a brilliant show and posted 215/7 in their allotted 20 overs. While Dawid Malan top-scored for the hosts with 77 runs, Liam Livingstone remained unbeaten on a quickfire 42. Chasing the big total, India lost their top three cheaply and looked all but out. Luckily for them, Suryakumar Yadav had other plans as India remained in the hunt till the very end.

Meanwhile, here’s how Twitter reacted to Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance:
