Indian Premier League (IPL) delivered several moments of joy to its viewers and cricketers who participated in the 2023 mini-auction. Some players received heavy sums from the franchise due to their diligence in recent T20I tournaments. However, some players who were non-performers in the last IPL edition were lucky as they not only got acquired by the franchises at the event but also found themselves among big money.

Going through their reputation and capability, the franchises ignored their last season’s failure and didn’t dither to believe in them for their crucial campaign in 2023. However, after having an unsuccessful journey in the 2022 IPL, these players will look to impress their new franchises with their courageous playing style.

Here are 5 players who received good sums in IPL 2023 auction despite being unsuccessful in 2022 season

5. Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the 2022 mega auction for INR 4.60 crore. Going through his amazing past performance, the franchise trusted him to bat in the top order. However, the veteran could score only 88 runs in six games at a strike rate of 110.00 in 2022. Witnessing his terrible show with the bat, the franchise excluded him from their retention list.

At the mini-auction, Pandey registered his name to find a new franchise to play in the next edition of the league. His base price in the event was INR 1 crore but looking at his past record, Delhi Capitals (DC) and his old franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns at the auction tables.

In the end, the 33-year-old went to Delhi Capitals (DC) at INR 2.4 crore. In the next edition, he will look forward to returning to his old form and delivering something solid performance for his new franchise. The franchise might deliver him the responsibility to reinforce the batting line-up with David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Rovman Powell.
