Gujarat Titans travelled to Jaipur to face the league leaders Rajasthan Royals in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. Rajasthan Royals were sent out to bat by the opposition and the openers gave them a decent start but couldn’t convert it into a big one in this innings. Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson had a great partnership of 130 runs which propelled the side to a score of 196 runs.

In reply, Gujarat Titans were able to start off well with skipper Shubman Gill along with Sai Sudharsan. They had a great opening stand of 64 runs which kept them in the chase at that moment. But Indian seamer Kuldeep Sen came back to grab three quick wickets to put his side in front. Shubman Gill kept his franchise in the chase with a composed 72 run knock, but had to unfortunately depart while trying to up the ante. Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia took the side home from an improbable position to clinch the two points in this game.

Here are the 3 changes that RR can make ahead of the next match

1. Jaiswal needs to convert his start into big knock

Coming into this season of the Indian Premier League 2024, almost the whole cricket fraternity believed that it would be a great campaign for Yashasvi Jaiswal. The opener’s stellar campaign last year saw him earn an opportunity for the Indian team in Tests and T20Is. The UP-born continued his miraculous form in both the formats before heading into the tournament.

However, it has been an unexpected start to the IPL campaign for the southpaw, as he has not been able to register a big knock thus far in the 2024 season. For a player, who amassed more than 600 runs last year, to not have a single fifty in five innings is more than a shock. Thus, a good match-winning performance is all Yashasvi needs to prove his mettle in the Rajasthan Royals camp.

2) Better captaincy from Sanju

The skipper of the Rajasthan Royals has been a great leader of the franchise over the years. He is claimed to be one of the best captains in this edition of the Indian Premier League. The wicket-keeper batter also proved his worth as skipper in this tournament as his side won the opening four games of the tournament.

Unfortunately, the right-handed batter’s captaincy had a rare off day today against the Gujarat Titans. He bowled ten overs of spin and still the side were one over short of the timer, which resulted in a penalty for the final over. It also ended up costing them the result at the end. Additionally, he had the services of Trent Boult for the final overs, but he chose to go with the Indian bowlers, which might be a call that he might regret later on.

3. Bring Nandre Burger back

It was a shock when the team sheets came out earlier today at the toss, as Rajasthan Royals dropped their in-form overseas bowler to accommodate Kuldeep Sen into the playing XI. Burger has been key for the Royals this season as he has been able to chip in with wickets at the start and his pace is beneficial in troubling the batters more often than not.

Nonetheless, Kuldeep Sen had a great first three overs as he was able to claim three wickets in the game. However, his final over cost his side the match as he conceded 20 runs, which also included a costly no-ball. The team management should not have tinkered with the line-up and might have to include Burger in place of one of the two Indian pacers.
