Kolkata Knight Riders have been one of the best teams to watch out for during the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Shreyas Iyer’s side brushed past the other teams to become the first team to make it to the finals of the tournament. Right from the start of the season, the two-time IPL winners have sizzled with the bat and been ruthless with the ball.
Shreyas Iyer has led his side well and has been perhaps the best skipper of the season along with Pat Cummins. Under his captaincy and the trust of the team management, Kolkata Knight Riders players have given their best. Long-time players like Sunil Narine and Andre Russell have returned to their best form.
Phil Salt who is away on international duty was one of the best openers and formed a dangerous stand at the top of the order with Sunil Narine. While many players got a chance to show their wares there were a few players who didn’t get too many opportunities to play for KKR during the current season.
Here are the 3 players who were underutilized by KKR in IPL 2024
3. Manish Pandey
It was surprising that despite playing 171 matches in the Indian Premier League, Manish Pandey wasn’t given too many chances. The 34-year-old played just one game during the season against Mumbai Indians. Being asked to come in as an impact player Manish Pandey did more than his fair share with the bat as he scored 42 runs from 31 balls to help KKR win the game. Sadly that was his only chance during this campaign as KKR chose to make him sit on the bench and underutilise his talents.

2. Suyash Sharma
Young leg-spin bowler Suyash Sharma was the best find of the season for KKR during the IPL 2023 season. The 21-year-old left everyone impressed with his flight and guile with the ball and many expected the IPL 2024 season to be bigger for Suyash Sharma. The youngster was benched after just two matches where he went wicketless and this left many fans surprised as Suyash Sharma was massively underutilized by Shreyas Iyer.

1. Nitish Rana
Just last year Nitish Rana was leading the KKR side in the absence of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer. This year the 30-year-old found himself massive underutilized having been given just 2 matches where he scored a total of 42 runs. His 33 against the Mumbai Indians in a rain-shortened match was crucial in his team winning the game and becoming the first team to make it to the playoffs.
