Just two more matches are left to decide the champions of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are eagerly waiting to see who will join them for the summit clash on May 26. We will get the answer soon as the action now moves south at Chennai's Chepauk Stadium as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2.

SRH, who finished second on the points table, got one more life to appear in the final after losing to KKR by eight wickets in the first qualifier. Meanwhile, RR ended their four-game losing streak by defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a collective effort in the Eliminator.

When the two teams met each other earlier this season, it was a neck-and-neck battle as SRH won by just one run off the last ball of the innings. Let's look forward to another exhilarating match of cricket on Friday (May 24) as the two formidable teams come face to face once again.

Here's the strongest predicted playing XI of SRH for Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024 against RR:

Openers: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma

Batting is SRH's main strength, mainly due to their openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. But over-reliance on these two can become their weakness, which was very evident in Qualifier 1 against KKR.  Both departed for cheap scores and SRH had to settle for a below-par total of 159.

Notably, Head was dismissed for a duck in the last two matches and his weakness against left-arm pacers was obvious. It will be interesting to see how he fares against Trent Boult in the upcoming match. Meanwhile, SRH will not be too worried about the form of Abhishek, who recently scored a blazing 66 runs against Punjab Kings. He currently leads the list of most sixes this season with 41 maximums.

Middle-order: Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abdul Samad

Rahul Tripathi didn't play a single game till the first qualifier but managed to grab the opportunity with both hands with a brilliant knock which unfortunately ended in a losing cause. While the rest struggled to find runs in the crucial encounter, Tripathi took them to a respectable score with a 35-ball 55.

There is no doubting how dangerous Heinrich Klaasen is. But his recent form certainly worries the management. He was inconsistent in the second leg of the tournament and failed to score big. Abdul Samad hasn't done anything impressive this season and it's safe to say he hasn't had much opportunity to showcase his abilities. However, the presence of the big-hitter in the lower order is a confidence boost for the team.

All-rounder: Nitish Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed

Nitish Reddy is the find of the season for SRH. His confidence and ability make everyone wonder if he is playing his first IPL season. Apart from playing a couple of match-winning innings, the right-hander has been consistently contributing with impactful knocks in the middle order. He is also a handy right-arm pace bowler.

Although Shahbaz Ahmed is not a reliable option, he adds strength to the all-round department of SRH. Batting in the lower middle-order, the left-hander has managed to make a few impactful cameos. His left-arm orthodox bowling will come in handy on Chennai's spin-friendly pitch.

Bowlers: Pat Cummins (c), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, T Natarajan

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead SRH's pace attack. In the previous encounter against RR, the swing master took three wickets, two of which came in the first over itself. If he manages to give another blazing start, SRH will be favourites to win the game. Skipper Pat Cummins and T Natarajan have also been impressive so far, taking 16 and 18 wickets, respectively.

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth will be the specialist spinner on the side. The Sri Lankan leg-spinner has not been a regular feature for SRH this season. He is expected to have an effective outing alongside Shahbaz Ahmed on a Chepauk pitch which has something to offer for the spinners.
