2. Shahbaz Ahmed

Shahbaz Ahmed has been a proven performer in the Indian domestic circuit. The 27-year-old has aggregated 663 runs in 31 List-A games at a strike rate of 92.21 and bagged 28 wickets at an economy of 4.52. The Haryana-born put on a show with the bat at IPL 2022 and smashed 219 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of 120.99. Also, he took four wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Courtesy of superb performances at the domestic circuit and lucrative T20 tournament, Shahbaz broke into the Indian side. The ace all-rounder made two ODI appearances in the series against South Africa and did a decent job picking three wickets in two games at an economy of 5.05.

Shahbaz has been included in India’s ODI team for the upcoming New Zealand tour but his chances to feature in the playing XI are quite bleak. The Men in Blue have Washington Sundar being in their ranks, who has proven his mettle in the international arena and will also form a great foil to ace leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Thus, Sundar is likely to pip him for the spin-bowling all-rounder slot in the forthcoming New Zealand series.
