West Indies will take on Afghanistan in Match 40 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Tuesday, June 18. Unbeaten after three league games, both the teams have secured their berths in the Super Eight stage and will now aim for a first-round whitewash.
The tournament co-hosts are currently second in the Group C points table due to their lower net run rate (+2.596) compared to the Asian side. The winners of the upcoming battle will finish the league stage as the group toppers. Given the current form of both the teams, it is going to be an exhilirating clash, but the Windies will have a slight advantage at the venue.
Rovman Powell and Co. started their campaign with a five-wicket win over Papua New Guinea and then defeated Uganda by a massive margin of 134 runs in the subsequent game. They followed it up with a 13-run win over New Zealand. Will they stick with the same playing XI as they have qualified for the next round or will they do some experimenting?
