UP Warriors (UPW) had a decent campaign in the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) as they were one of the three teams that made it to the playoffs. However, Alyssa Healy's team could not repeat the success this time, finishing fourth in the points table with 6 points.

The Lucknow-based franchise started their journey with two defeats but bounced back in the next two matches. They failed to maintain the momentum and eventually crashed out of the competition, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finishing third and winning the franchise's maiden title.

Let's take a look at three players who were underutilized by UPW in WPL 2024:

The England opener was heartbroken after going unsold at the auction of the inaugural edition of the league. The English opener was left heartbroken after going unsold for the inaugural edition of the league. UPW picked her up for the 2024 season, but only to warm the bench throughout the tournament.

It was Vrinda Dinesh who opened the innings alongside captain Healy in the first two matches. With a shoulder injury forcing the uncapped Indian player to miss the remainder of the series, Kiran Navgire was promoted to the top of the order. Danielle Wyatt is one of England's finest openers in limited-overs cricket and notably, she hit a 47-ball 75 against India in India in December 2023. Wyatt was also the leading run-scorer in The Hundred Women 2023.
