Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title in the 2023 edition of the T20 league, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. The intriguing match was the last appearance of Ambati Rayudu in the cash-rich league as ahead of the game, the veteran batter had announced that he will hang up his boots after CSK’s final assignment against Gujarat in the tournament.

In his 13-year-long IPL career, Rayudu represented top franchises of the league, Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2010 to 2017 and CSK from 2018 to 2023. Back in 2018, the veteran batter joined CSK after serving MI for multiple years.

In CSK’s third title triumph in 2018, Rayudu played an essential role with his bat, becoming the leading run-scorer in the side with 602 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 149.75. After their legendary batter’s retirement, CSK will now look to fill his shoes before the 2024 edition and currently, they have three players who could replace Rayudu in the 2024 season

Here are three players who can replace Rayudu in the CSK camp for the 2024 IPL edition

3. Nishant Sindhu

At the 2023 IPL auction held in Kerala, CSK roped in Nishant Sindhu for INR 60 lakh. Currently, the 19-year-old has become a crucial name for Haryana in domestic cricket. Back in 2022, he hit headlines for his heroic knock in the Under-19 World Cup 2022 final for India U-19s against England U-19s.

Playing the final match of the U19 World Cup in Antigua, Sindhu powered India U-19 to a win with his unbeaten 50-run knock and helped to take the distinguished trophy home. This year, Super Kings didn’t give him a chance in their playing XI but now after Rayudu’s retirement, CSK could show faith in the youngster to reinforce their batting unit.

Like Rayudu, Sindhu is also a middle-order batter, and in the 2024 season, the CSK team management might groom him to become their reliable option, who could strengthen the side by producing solid knocks from his bat. However, prior to the 2024 IPL season, the CSK team management will also watch his performance for Haryana in the 2023-24 domestic season.
