The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) kick-started on March 4. It has lived up to its hype as fans have witnessed some spectacular on the cricket field. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are one of the most popular teams in the league have not had a great start to their campaign and have succumbed to back-to-back losses in the two games played thus far.
Though the Bangalore franchise has not played to their potential yet, they have top-drawer players in their repertoire who can set WPL 2023 ablaze with their performances and help turn the team’s fortunes. Smriti Mandhana & Co. have still in them to go all the way in the T20 extravaganza and let us look at the reasons why they could do so.
Here are three reasons why RCB Women can win the inaugural WPL season
3. The Mandhana-factor
India have produced many match-winners over the years but there have been only quite a few of the caliber of Smriti Mandhana. The ace batter has annihilated bowlers with her swashbuckling stroke play and stamped her authority on the cricket field.
Mandhana has featured in 77 ODIs and amassed 3073 runs at a strike rate of 83.91. Coming to the shortest format, Mandhana has represented the Women in Blue on 116 occasions and notched up 2802 runs at a strike rate of 123.87.
Mandhana was simply sensational in the recently culminated T20 World Cup 2023. The Indian batter put the opposition’s bowlers under the pump and hammered 151 runs in four games at a strike rate of 138.53.
Mandhana, on song, is an absolute nightmare for the opposition’s bowlers. She has proven her mettle in the international arena time and time again and could take Royal Challengers Bangalore to glory in WPL 2023.
