3. Trevor Bayliss

Trevor Bayliss has been a prominent name in the coaching circles. He succeeded Moody as the head coach of Sri Lanka in 2007 and was associated with them for the next four years. In his tenure, the Lankan Lions were the runners-up in the 2009 T20 World Cup and also at the 2011 ODI World Cup.

Bayliss is a master tactician of the game and it was on display during his coaching stint with Kolkata Knight Riders. The Goulburn-born was appointed the KKR’s head coach in 2012 and the Kolkata franchise scripted history by winning the title in the same season. Again in 2014, KKR replicated their success of the fifth IPL edition by defeating Kings XI Punjab in the summit clash.

Bayliss was associated with KKR till 2014 and the 59-year-old returned to the lucrative T20 tournament in 2020 when the Sunrisers Hyderabad selected him as their head coach. The former New South Wales cricketer weaved his magic for SRH too and took them to the playoffs in the 13th edition.

Bayliss has been appointed as the head coach of the Punjab Kings for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league and he would look to end Punjab’s eight-year-old playoff drought in the 16th edition.
