India would be expected to showcase an excellent performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia that will be played from October 16 to November 13, 2022. However, once the tournament concludes, the Indian think tank would be sitting together and preparing a roadmap for the next year's 50-over World Cup at home.

There will be a cut-throat competition with many players auditioning for being a part of the Indian World Cup squad and it would be a tedious task for the selectors when it comes to choosing the best. Meanwhile, as far as things are concerned for now, it seems that three players have already announced their arrival after showcasing consistent performances in the successful home ODI series against South Africa.

Without further ado, here's a look at three of the players who could make it to India's first-choice ODI side post the T20 World Cup.

1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer at one point in time was pretty much in the scheme of things to make it to India's T20 World Cup squad after impactful performances earlier this year. However, his vulnerability against the bouncers in the last few months put the selectors in a dilemma regarding whether he would be able to cope up with the fast and bouncy pitches in Australia and he was not selected for the tournament in the main squad.

Iyer made the most of his opportunities in the just-concluded home series against South Africa where he played his role to perfection in the last two matches where he also went on to hit a match-winning century (113*).

With 191 runs from three matches, the Mumbai cricketer has definitely proved a point to be included in India's ODI squad post the T20 World Cup.
