India (IND) and Afghanistan (AFG) gear up for the third of the three-match T20I series at the M Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru. Afghanistan recently clinched a 2-1 victory against UAE in the recently concluded T20I series, showcasing their strength even without some prominent players. With the return of key players, Afghanistan are eager to demonstrate their prowess against a formidable opponent like India.

Both teams have their sights set on the upcoming T20 World Cup, just six months away, using this series to fine-tune line-ups and strategies. However, Afghanistan face a setback with key player Rashid Khan sidelined due to injury for this series, despite being announced as a part of the squad earlier.

Known for their ultra-aggressive approach during the powerplay, Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are likely to open the innings for the visitors in Bengaluru. Zazai, despite occasional footwork challenges, possesses the knack for playing substantial innings, often turning the game in his team's favour within the first six overs and with the boundary dimensions at the M Chinnaswamy, he could be a potential threat.

On the other side, Gurbaz stands out as one of the most dangerous white-ball openers currently. His proficiency in not just playing attacking shots, but also converting starts into significant knocks, poses a genuine threat to opposing teams. Eager to showcase his prowess, Gurbaz will aim to kick off the innings on a positive note for Afghanistan.

Middle Order: Ibrahim Zadran (c), Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi

The newly appointed captain, Ibrahim Zadran, is slated to bat at one down for the team. With a strong technique, he excels in playing the anchor role amidst the big hitters in the team and can shift gears when needed, as showcased in his remarkable performances during the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Following him, Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi are likely to step in, adapting to the game situation. Zadran's aggressive batting can prove valuable when the team requires quick runs, while Nabi, with his wealth of experience and composed demeanour, may stabilise the innings in case of early wickets. Drawing from their extensive experience in global franchise cricket, both players aim to exhibit their skills and set a positive tone for the series.

All-rounders: Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahmat Shah

Azmatullah Omarzai and Rahmat Shah are set to don the all-rounder roles for the team. Omarzai has left an indelible mark with his ability to bowl at around 140kph and his proficiency in playing powerful shots. Thus, Omarzai is someone who can contribute equally in both departments.

Rahmat Shah, a classy batter known for his impeccable technique, has been in outstanding form recently. His remarkable ability to maintain a good strike rate without taking undue risks is his greatest strength. Eager to showcase his prowess, Rahmat is determined to impress the selectors and solidify his place in the team for the upcoming T20I World Cup.

Bowlers: Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Qais Ahmad, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi

Fazalhaq Farooqi is likely to open the bowling alongside the crafty spinner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman. With substantial experience in various global leagues, Farooqi's ability to swing the ball at pace and Mujeeb's precision are poised to pose significant threats to the Indian team.

Apart from Mujeeb, Qais Ahmad and Noor Ahmad are expected to play crucial roles in the spin department with the M Chinnaswamy surface double-paced in recent times. In the absence of veteran spinner Rashid Khan, the duo now has an opportunity to shine and put impressive performances on display. This presents a chance for him to impress the selectors with his skills.

Noor Ahmad, known for his dodgy left-arm spin, is coming on the back of impressive showings. His recent performances, including a key role in guiding Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2023 finals, have garnered attention. Eager to showcase his prowess against a strong side like India, Noor would surely be geared up to make an impact.
