IPL 2023: 3 KKR Players to watch out for in upcoming edition

Kolkata Knight Riders, who won titles in the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Indian Premier League, looked out of colours in the last IPL edition. Under new skipper Shreyas Iyer, the team couldn’t qualify for the knockout round, winning only six and losing eight out of 14 matches. This season, they will be expected to deliver top-notch shows to their fans and lift the prestigious trophy after nine years.

Before the crucial tournament, captain Iyer might not be available for the initial games due to his injury. The unavailability of Iyer has come out as disturbing news for KKR supporters but the franchise has an ample number of stalwarts who will look to display their efficiency for the team in the upcoming season.

Talking about some of them, here are three players who could deliver mind-boggling numbers to KKR

3. Shardul Thakur

For the first time in the IPL, Shardul Thakur will be seen in a KKR jersey as the franchise acquired him from Delhi Capitals (DC) in the trading window. The 31-year-old has the ability to add strength to his new team with his exceptional bowling skills. In the previous IPL installment, he took 15 wickets for DC in 14 games at an economy of 9.79. 

This year, he will look to be more responsible and improve his numbers while playing for KKR. Along with quality pacers such as Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, and Andre Russell, he will sharpen the fast-bowling unit of the Knight Riders. Besides bowling, he also has the potential to deliver match-finishing knocks to his team, batting in the lower order.

In the past, Thakur has played a few swashbuckling batting cameos for his national team India on a few occasions. Banking on his reputation as a batter, the KKR management will look to reap the benefits of his batting talent as well to have a successful campaign.
