IPL 2024: LSG vs DC Match 26 - Top 3 player battles to watch out for

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will lock horns in Match 26 of the IPL 2024. The two will face each other at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 12. The two come in after the contrasting results from their previous encounter, LSG with a smile on their face. 

The hosts are currently third in the points table after winning three matches on the trot, while the visitors are at the bottom of the table after losing four out of five matches. LSG and DC have met each other three times in league history and on all occasions, the former has had the last laugh.

Capitals are yet to taste a win in this rivalry and given their current form, it looks like Lucknow will extend their record. A major plus for DC in the last match against Mumbai Indians (MI) was the astonishing performance of youngster Tristan Stubbs who did his best to get his team over the line with a 25-ball 71. Rishabh Pant and Co. need to get back on track before things get out of hand and this promises a tough fight.

3. David Warner vs Mayank Yadav

David Warner’s form has been a blow for Delhi this season. The veteran opener has scored just one half-century in five matches so far and has failed to provide a solid start for the team. He will be eyeing for a strong comeback in the match against LSG, but it won’t be an easy task.

The southpaw can score big once he settles in and KL Rahul will look to avoid that damage by bringing in their pace sensation Mayank Yadav. The right-arm speedster has stunned the cricketing world with his blistering pace and Warner is well aware of the upcoming threat. It will be interesting to see how the Australian will fare against the uncapped Indian.

 2. Marcus Stoinis vs Axar Patel

Marcus Stoinis played a match-winning knock in LSG's last game against Gujarat Titans (GT). His 58 off 43 was crucial for them to post a competitive total on Lucknow’s slow track. Stoinis' presence in the middle overs is a dare for LSG and DC will aim to break this belief as early as possible.

The Australian all-rounder is likely to have a key match-up with Axar Patel. The star spinner is good at drying up the runs in the middle overs and trying to apply pressure which will eventually lead to a wicket. The duo encountered just 19 deliveries in the IPL, with only 10 runs coming at a strike rate of 52.63.

1. Quinton de Kock vs Anrich Nortje

LSG opener Quinton de Kock is likely to have an exciting match-up against his national teammate Anrich Nortje. The wicket-keeper batter has scored 55 runs at a strike rate of 157.14 against the right-arm pacer and was dismissed only once.

Considering the current form, de Kock is likely to have the upper hand. Nortje was one of the main culprits for DC's loss in the last match against MI. He conceded 65 runs in four overs, 32 of them coming in the final over. De Kock, on the other hand, registered two half-centuries so far and looks to be in decent form.
