IPL 2026: DC vs RR Match 62 - Who will be Impact Players for today's match?

The Delhi Capitals (DC) lock horns with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Match 62 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, May 17, as part of a double header. 

The Capitals secured a seven-wicket victory against RR when the two sides last played each other this season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Axar Patel’s side do have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs, but they need many results to go their way.

The Royals, on the other hand, have slightly lost their way with back-to-back defeats. They are still fifth in the standings with 12 points from 11 matches, knowing that a win will see them return to the top four. 

Both DC and RR opted to use a batter as their Impact Sub, but in a completely different position in the order. DC went with Ashutosh Sharma in the lower order, where he provided them with the finishing touch in the second innings. RR, meanwhile, have used 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a host of games this season while chasing a total.

Vipraj Nigam: A spin-bowling all-rounder, Vipraj Nigam has played five times this season but has contributed to only two wickets and 15 runs. 

Sameer Rizvi: Sameer Rizvi had an excellent start to the season. He has scored 252 this season at an average of 147.36 from 11 matches.

Nitish Rana: An experienced IPL campaigner, Nitish Rana has played nine matches this season, scoring 225 runs at a strike-rate of 151 with one score in the 90s to his name. 

T.Natarajan: Should DC need an extra seamer due to an unfortunate injury, they can call upon T.Natarajan as an Impact Sub to give them a left-arm option. 

Predicted Impact Players for Rajasthan Royals (RR):

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: RR’s designated substitute whilst chasing a total, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is enjoying an excellent first full season in the IPL, scoring 440 runs at a strike-rate of 236.55.

Sandeep Sharma: A fast bowler with tonnes of IPL experience under his belt, Sandeep Sharma has played five games and taken as many wickets. 

Sushant Mishra: A left-arm pacer, Sushant Mishra was signed by RR for INR 90 lakh, but is yet to make his IPL debut. He took 18 wickets in SMAT last season.

Ravi Bishnoi: One of IPL’s most experienced spinners, Bishnoi has 11 wickets to his name from nine games, whilst slightly being on the expensive side. 

Ravi Singh: Representing Railways in the domestic circuit, Ravi Singh is a 24-year-old wicketkeeper who has not made his IPL debut just yet. 

Expert Opinion and Final Prediction

• Home Advantage: DC have played six matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, winning just once, against MI in the first game at the venue.
• Recent Form: RR and DC have both won two matches in the last five meetings between the two sides. 
• Balanced Side: RR have a slightly stable and balanced playing XI compared to DC, with the Capitals changing their overseas players only recently. 
• Prediction: With these factors in their favour, the Rajasthan Royals are favourites to get the win against the Delhi Capitals.
