The Indian Premier League is considered the best T20 league in the world because of its stellar level of competition. For cricketers all over the world, participation in this league is no less than a matter of pride as after performing in it, their careers get an ample boost.

In the past, cricket watchers have also seen how some players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Kieron Pollard got recognition in international cricket by delivering some incredible performances for their teams in the cash-rich league.

However, some cricketers have been unfortunate as their IPL careers finished due to fitness issues and injuries. Going through their numbers and stature in international cricket and other renowned cricketing competitions, it could be said that they had the potential to become huge names in the biggest T20 league of the world had injuries not impacted their careers.

Here are 5 cricketers whose IPL career ended because of fitness issues

5. John Hastings (2016) - Ankle injury

John Hastings was part of the IPL from 2014-2016 and represented two teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In these years, he got a chance to play only three games in which he took three wickets.

In 2016, playing against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils), he drew attention towards him by delivering a match-winning 2/6 spell for KKR. With this performance, the franchise was looking to use him effectively against the opponents in the next matches of the tournament.

Before the fifth IPL match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Hastings picked up an ankle injury while practising during the warm-up session. Later, due to the injury, he couldn’t play the remaining matches of that edition, and things got worse for him when he couldn’t participate in the league again by going unsold in the 2018 IPL.
