There will be many big names going under the hammer when the IPL 2024 auction takes place on December 19, in Dubai. Each team will have a budget of Rs 100 crore, up from Rs 95 crore the previous year. This is the final year of each player's three-year contract, and a mega-auction is planned for next year.

There have been 1166 registrations for the auction, which will be the final mini-auction before next year's giant auction. There are 77 places available, with 30 of them reserved for international players. The ten teams can spend a total of Rs 262.95 crore.

There are multiple international cricket experienced players who have put their names in the auction list. But it remains to be seen which of the players get picked owing to only 77 vacancies. With this in mind, here is a look at five capped players who might not get a buyer in the IPL 2024 auction.

Here are the Top 5 capped players who might go unsold in the IPL 2024 auction:

5.David Willey

David Willey recently retired from international cricket after the ICC World Cup 2023. The 33-year-old acknowledged that with ECB excluding him from the list of central contracts, means that he has limited time to explore other opportunities and make some money. Willey has been a part of IPL on several occasions, most recently with RCB in IPL 2023.

However, he has just played just 11 matches across three IPL seasons with 6 wickets to his name. Due to his England commitments, Willey was not considered a pick in previous auctions. But this time as well, the England pacer might see himself going unsold due to his form and lack of performances in recent times. There is not much trust in David Willey’s abilities from IPL franchises despite him ending with 11 wickets in the recent ICC World Cup at an economy of 5.07.
