1. Shahbaz Ahmed

The 27-year-old all-rounder made his India debut against South Africa just before the T20 World Cup and will once again have to wait for his opportunity as Washington Sundar has returned back from injury to take his spot. Furthermore, with the availability of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel in the future, Shahbaz is quite behind in the pecking order and thus may not be in India’s plans for the ODI series at all.

In the two ODIs, he played against South Africa in October, the 27-year-old picked three wickets at an economy rate of 5.05. He is a tremendous fielder and can chip in with the bat as well but when it comes to chances, it’s likely to fade away with the return of other senior cricketers.

Just like Kuldeep Sen, he currently is in tremendous form in the Vijay Hazare trophy. He picked up 11 wickets in six matches so far in the tournament and also registered two crucial half-centuries against Maharashtra and Services. He will definitely push hard for a spot in the playing XI in the second and third ODIs of the series but a lot will depend on Washington Sundar’s form and impact.
