ODI World Cup: 5 Instances when cricketers were confused on the field

The Cricket World Cup 2023 in India is in full swing. There are more exciting matches to follow as the tournament progresses. The excitement floats around the on-field actions as cricketers tend to deliver the best performances on the field to get the results.  

But sometimes such situations arise which keep them clueless. They look perplexed having no idea of what just happened in front of them. Some unrealistic situations arrived at crucial junctions of the game. They're all aware of the rules and regulations of the game, but it doesn't strike their mind until and unless exceptional situations hit them hard. 

In the history of the Cricket World Cup, such things happen which make you feel dazzled at times. But that's the beauty of the game. If those situations went the other way, history could have been different. Such was the impact of those incidents. 

5. Virat Kohli walked out against Pakistan in World Cup 2019

The stage was set at Old Trafford, Manchester where India and Pakistan clashed at Cricket World Cup 2019. Under the overcast conditions, Pakistan sent India to bat first. Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were cruising through, then joined skipper Virat Kohli. He kept the momentum going. 

That day he came out all guns blazing. Just when it looked like Virat would finish strong against them, he nicked one off Mohammad Amir's bowling. In the 48th over, Amir banged one short and Virat tried to pull down with his bat swing. In real-time it looked faintest of the edges as Virat walked back way before Marais Erasmus raised his finger. 

But when the replay was shown, there was a daylight gap between the bat and the ball. Virat looked frustrated watching this from the dressing room. Perhaps, he felt a creak come from his bat only. Thankfully for India, it didn't affect the outcome, they won by 89 runs(D/L method).
