Rajasthan Royals (RR) became the first Indian Premier League (IPL) champions under Shane Warne in 2008. In their incredible achievement, renowned international names Shane Watson, Graeme Smith, and Yusuf Pathan put up blockbuster shows with their bats.
In 2022, RR qualified for the final after 14 years but had to satiate themselves with the runners-up tag. This time, Jos Buttler did his job exceptionally and became the Orange Cap winner. England’s white-ball captain hit 863 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 149.05.
Noting their two best IPL seasons, the RR team management will expect their batters to have a great time in the upcoming season and make the team champions for the second time. In 16 years of IPL, RR fans have received several memorable knocks from their team but before the 2024 IPL, let’s handpick the five best batting innings of the 2008 IPL champions.
Here are RR’s best knocks of all time in IPL history:
5. Jos Buttler’s 124 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2021

Jos Buttler has been playing in the cash-rich league since 2016 but his first IPL century came in 2021 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the England stumper-batter showcased his formidable side and helped RR hammer the Orange Army by 55 runs.
Winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson elected to bat first and Buttler delivered a fierce start to the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal went back to the pavilion cheaply after scoring only 12 but the English player stood with his captain at the crease and shattered the confidence of SRH bowlers.
Riding on his excellent 124-run knock off just 64 deliveries, RR gave a mammoth target of 221 to Hyderabad. Buttler’s knock demoralised SRH as their batters surrendered in front of Royals’ bowlers on 165.
