3. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has been a game-changer with the bat for India across formats. He has played many breathtaking knocks in the international arena, especially in ODIs and Tests. Though the shortest format has not been his happy hunting ground, the 25-year-old is an ever-improving player and could nail the T20Is in the near future. He has featured in 64 T20Is thus far and scored 970 runs at a strike rate of 127.12.

Talking about Pant’s leadership credentials, he is not new to leading a side. The wicketkeeper batter is the incumbent skipper of the Delhi Capitals and has led the franchise in the last two seasons. Also, in the 2021 season, it was under his leadership that the Delhi franchise topped the league stage with 10 wins in 14 games. The southpaw has also appointed the leader of the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa in July 2022.

Given the Uttarakhand-born has fared well in the leadership role, he could be in line to be India’s next skipper in T20Is. And as Pant is not plagued with injuries, unlike Hardik and Rahul, the think tank could see him as the ideal candidate to fill Rohit’s boots.
