India and Bangladesh had reached the final of the Asia Cup 2018, the last time the tournament was played in ODI format, in UAE. Rohit Sharma was captaining the Indian team in Virat Kohli’s absence and the Men in Blue were on a roll coming into the final. Bangladesh was also in very good form, defeating Pakistan to reach the summit clash.

Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, the decision backfired as Litton Das hammered a magnificent 121 with 12 fours and 2 sixes, which was his maiden ODI hundred. Bangladesh looked good for a huge total at 128/1, but then Kuldeep Yadav (3/45) and Kedar Jadhav (2/41) rattled the middle order as Bangladesh faltered to 222 all-out.

In response, Indian batters couldn’t manage to hit a fifty, with Rohit Sharma top-scoring with 48 runs, while Dinesh Karthik (37), MS Dhoni (36), and Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja (23 each) barely managed to pull India through on the last ball with 3 wickets in hand. Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain with two wickets each gave Bangladesh an outside chance to defend the low total.
